James E. Jim Byczek, 64, of rural Lockridge, IA, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2019, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, IA.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel of Mt. Pleasant, IA. A memorial service will be held 6:00 p.m., that same evening, at the Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Larry Menke officiating. In lieu of flowers, gifts of love and friendship may be given to Lockridge Fire Department. On-line condolences may be directed to www.olsonpowell.com.

Born July 22, 1954, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, James Edward was the son of Ivan Dennis and June Elizabeth (Siefken) Byczek. He was a 1972 graduate of Mt. Pleasant Community High School. On November 29, 1975, he married Marilee Ann Scovern in New London, IA.

A lifelong farmer, Jim liked to fish, hunt, and camp. He didnt know a stranger and could talk with anyone. Jim especially enjoyed spending time with his wife.

Along with his loving wife, Marilee, of 43 years, Jim is survived by a brother, Robert Ted (Katie) Byczek of New London. He is also survived by seven nieces and nephews, eleven great-nieces and great-nephews, and one great-great-niece.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a step-mother, Velma Byczek.
